As promised, here are some pictures of our (almost) finished bathroom.  I was going to post some more of the progress before I posted the finished product, but I'm on our dial-up at home and it took forever just to post these three!

We still have a couple things to do -- like hang a towel bar, a hook, and a couple pictures.  And I still have to put a coat or two of paint on the closet door and hang it.  Other than that, I think we're done!

Hope you enjoy it.  We certainly are!

Drywaller is FINALLY finished!

We spent all day today cleaning up drywall dust.  The house is almost livable!  The painter finished today.  Tomorrow they're coming to set the toilet and sink and to put up trim.  The end is in sight!  There will be more pictures soon.  HAPPY NEW YEAR!!!

Bathroom Redo - Week 2

I finished the roll of film this weekend, so I thought I'd bring you up-to-date on our remodel (for those of you who are interested).  Monday when we got home from work, this is what it looked like . . .

The floor was stripped down to the joists (you could look through and see the basement floor) and most of the plaster was off the walls.  Tuesday when we got home, it looked like this . . .

The subfloor was down and they had begun to frame in the wall at the end of the tub.  By the weekend, it looked like this . . .

The plumbing and electric are roughed in.  Some of the drywall is in.  The cement board is in behind the tub.  The connections for the laundry are in.  The boxes for the sconces are in (but they are too high and need to be moved down about a foot).  This week they should be finishing the drywall and the tiler is supposed to be coming.

I know this redo is all about the bathroom, but look at the rest of my house!!!

I'm going to have a LOT of cleaning to do!!  But it will be worth it!  Can't wait!!

Bathroom Redo - Day 1

Last night we went shopping for the bathroom.  We had already bought the tile for the floor and around the shower.  We went to the local home improvement store and bought a vanity, countertop/sink, medicine cabinet, light fixtures, and faucets.

Before you can rebuild, you have to demo.  That's what's happening right now.  Joe is taking all those ugly aqua ceramic tiles off the walls.  We moved everything out of there this morning (and moved what we'll need immediately to Granny's upstairs).  I went to the Down Home to get a few boxes to haul the tiles away in.  We're going to town this evening, so we'll probably make a stop at the dump and get rid of them right away.

I know we're behind the times, but out camera still uses film.  We will take pictures to document the progress, and I will post some when we get the first roll developed.

I hope you all are having a blessed holiday season.  We certainly are.  We had a wonderful time with all our children here for the Thanksgiving weekend.

It's nice being here close to our moms.  I went to my mom's after work Thursday, and we set up her Christmas tree and put the lights on it before I had to eat and go to choir.  Tonight she'll go with us to a Christmas program at Centre College.  As referenced above, we'll be staying at Granny's while our house is torn up.  It's right next door, so we can still pop in every day and check progress, mail, phone messages and e-mail, practice the piano, and watch our favorite TV shows.  But we'll sleep and get ready for work up there.  We keep overnight supplies at my mom's too, because it's right there so close to work that if the weather gets bad we could just stay there instead of slip-sliding the 20 miles home.

I'm going to finish eating my lunch and finish the laundry.  We'll have to go to Granny's to get ready to go to town this evening.  Enjoy your weekend!

Spring Has Sprung!

I know, I know.  It's been forever since I've written.  Sometimes I just don't think I have anything interesting to write about, sometimes I just don't want to take the time to wait on the dial-up, and sometimes I just don't want to look at a computer at home in the evening after I've stared at one all day at work!

Speaking of work, there's been some management shifting in our office.  Our big boss (the person between the owners and our direct supervisors) has been a VP in the company who lives in GA and was just here one week a month.  This week she traded jobs with a local woman, so our new boss will be here all the time.  I don't know what that's going to look like, but I think it's going to mean some tightening up in our office.  It may be interesting to see who stays and who goes.  Things were very relaxed when the "cat was away," and the mice surely did play.  There's not going to be any play time anymore, and some of the people there don't really want to work.

TOG got good news at work yesterday -- he starts Monday in the shipping & receiving area at Cat.  What he didn't mention is the schedule - 8-hour days Monday through Friday!  No more weekends!  No more 12-hour shifts!  He'll work 7:15 am to 3:45 pm, so he'll be home for supper every night!  Wahoo!!!

The sun is shining today.  There are green leaves on the trees, flowers peeking out all over the place, newborn calves in the fields.  Redbud are in bloom.  The high today is supposed to be 50 (that seems cool - it's been 70 the last few days).  There are even dandelions in the yard!  TOG's going to grill steaks today.  It's gonna be a good day.

I bought a new vacuum cleaner this week.  I used it through the main part of the house yesterday before TOG got home from work.  I still need to go out and clean the TV room.  I also have laundry that needs to be finished.  Guess I'd better get off here and get some work done!

Love y'all . . .
